Building Work

The Nursery toilets in the Orange Room are being completely refurbished.

The old sinks and toilets are being replaced by smart new ones and a hot air hand dryer to replace the blue paper towels. The colours chosen are red, yellow and blue to brighten the whole room.

The black floor is covered with tiny sparkles.

There is also shelving for storage of spare clothes.

There is a new false ceiling with inset lights.

Hot air dryers have also been installed in the adult toilets, which were repainted during the Christmas holidays.

In the Pre-school playground new drainage has been put in along the edge of the building...

...this work involved digging up the front path yet again!

Railings have been installed to replace the old trellis around the building. These are more attractive, and very importantly they stop the children banging their heads on the windows when they are open.

Most of these railings are in the Pre-school garden where fixed musical instruments have been installed.

There are bells, drums, guiros, a xylophone and more!

An all-weather surface will replace the grass and mud - watch this space for up-to-date pictures of all the work.

What a difference! The children would normally be excluded from this area in the winter and early spring because of the mud.

The new Activity Caterpillar is great fun and goes perfectly with the murals of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. The children will be developing their gross motor skills and understanding about magnetism.

The shed is starting to look as though it is a beach hut. Look out for the interactive scenes which will be painted onto the fence.

The Nursery has also had some work done on it - outside there is a new play house and the sensory garden is coming along, with decking and a ramp. There will be plants that smell and look wonderful as well as stepping stones that feel different underfoot.

The stepping stones and water feature have been installed. The children will be adding slate chippings and sowing seeds.

There is also decking on the other side of the canopy to allow children space to play outside whatever the weather.

The inside rooms have been painted - Strawberry room has been painted green and Orange room has been painted blue.
