Greenfield Children's Centre - working with families, children under 5 and the wider community in Waltham Cross

2 Sep 2009 - A new term begins

We are pleased to welcome new children and families to the centre, and to welcome some new staff. We have 3 staff on maternity leave, and welcome Angelena, Anita, Bhavna, Paula and Rachelle to the Greenfield team.

We are constantly trying to improve what we offer families at Greenfield and this means some changes. Please look out for information in the website calendar, and in flyers and leaflets for all the things we are running here this autumn.

Things to particularly be aware of are;

- first aid course

- numeracy (level 2) course

- Sure Start Open Day event in the annexe (Wed 16th Sept)

- Family Learning events in October

- the cooking course has been moved to Monday afternoons so that we can have a creche

- new 'Rhyme Time' for under 2s and 'Story and Rhyme Time' for 2 and 3 year olds will be on Friday afternoons

- Monday treasure basket sessions will now be in Baby Lounge once a month

On 25th August we welcomed 7 members of staff from the Treasury and other government departments who looked around the children's centre and then heard about the 0 - 7 pilot on Children's Spaces that Greenfield families are involved in. There will be more consultation on how the local area, particularly the alleyways, can be improved for our young children, and also how the land on top of the Holmesdale tunnel will be developed into a play space for children of all ages.

Don't forget that Pre-school and Nursery sessions are longer from Sept! Morning sessions will be 9.00 -12.00, and afternoon sessions will be 12.30 - 3.30.

Sorry, we have to ask you to leave older children outside when you collect Pre-school and Nursery children at 3.30. A member of staff will be available to supervise them.

Lunch club times will alter - children who have lunch before afternoon sessions will be able to come at 11.30 - 12.30. Lunchtime for those children attending morning sessions will be 12.00 - 1.00.

Pre-school staff were delighted to find some parents had been very busy with their jigsaws and paintbrushes over the holiday! The children will have lots to talk about when they return next week! Thank you so much, Linda, Nicky, Kerry and friends!
